What is Lymphedema Therapy?
Lymphedema is chronic swelling and accumulation of protein-rich fluid. Primary Lymphedema is from a congenital defect in the lymphatic vessels. Secondary Lymphedema is caused by damage to the lymphatic system from cancer surgery or radiation, trauma, obesity or infection.

Treatment may include lymphatic massage, wrapping, compression bandaging, or exercise specific to the individual to increase muscle & joint pumping actions.
Lymphedema Signs & Symptoms:

a feeling of heaviness or tightness

Complete Decongestive Therapy

Lymphatic drainage massage (increases lymphatic activity, absorption and decreases pain)​​

Short stretch compression bandaging (wrapping to increase venous and lymphatic drainage and pump functions, softens fibrotic tissue, etc)

Exercise (according to the individual case, may be performed with wraps or compression garments, to increase range of motion, strengthening, stretching, and decrease swelling)
